Established in 1958, Liangping County Pengcheng Bamboo Arts And Crafts Factory is specialized in the research, development and production of bamboo curtain, bamboo painting curtain, and other bamboo curtain products. We are located in Chongqing, with convenient transportation access. We take Chinese traditional technique to make bamboo curtains, and our Chinese paintings are completely by hand. The bamboo curtain is called "The Three Unique Skills in Liangping". During the World War II, the aircrew of America and Soviet Union in Liangping all spoke highly of the bamboo curtain handicraft. They also bought them as presents for their relatives and friends. In 1954, our government organized the handicraftsmen and set up the production group of bamboo curtain. In 1956, they advanced the group into a cooperative association. In 1957, the bamboo curtain handicraftsman Duan Siguang was invited to attend the Representative Meeting of National Handicraft. In 1958, the National Light Industry Department allocated a special fund to set up bamboo curtain factory and rebuilt the building, workshop and bamboo production base. Our workers increased to more than one hundred, the types of curtain reached to over twenty. At that time, our supply was unable to meet clients' demand. In 1959, our factory made a huge bamboo curtain for the Great Hall of the people. Marshal Thu De praised it as "one of the achievements of new China" when saw it. During the middle of 1960s, especially the period of "Cultural Revolution", affected by the action of getting rid of the four old habits, the production of bamboo curtain was in a very difficult situation until 1975, when Deng Xiaoping attended the United Nations General Assembly. He took the curtains abroad as gifts for foreign friends. In 1980, our factory made five large-sized bamboo curtains for the Great Hall of the People in Beijing again. People from all over the world praised the wonder. Liangping's bamboo curtain uses local bamboo as material. The production of curtain is based on the folk handcrafts and uses simple but artful wood construction machines. We draw out the slim bamboo filament, after many handwork procedures, and wear out the very thin and special bamboo handicraft, just like brocade. With the technique expression of painting and embroidery flocking, we delicately make all varieties of suspended curtain, screen, and decorative painting. One complete bamboo curtain product, from collecting bamboo to packing finished product into storage, need more than 80 working procedures, all excellent operation skills and compact co-operation. The Great Hall of the People has a collection in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Our products have been awarded many times by Chinese Bamboo Industry Association and Chinese Bamboo Industry Exposition.
